I'm thinking of changing from hotmail to gmail can you give me some good reasons to change?

I am considering switching from Windows Live Hotmail to Google Mail. Can somebody tell me if I should and list some good reasons for switching and some bad reasons for switching?

Yeah the only disadvantage is letting people know yr new address. I switched about a year ago though and I would never switch back. Gmail is just so much.. smarter. You know that new hotmail update a few months ago? Basically they just tried to make it more like gmail, but still fell short. So um some facts and not just raving:


Better spam filter


No "Windows Live Updates" in yr inbox ugh


Better search function in email (duh)


Chat


Gmail notifier lets you know when you have mail


More customisable


Just sign up and play around with it and you'll see, but for most things you won't love it till you actually start using it. Also importing yr contacts actually is easy.
Reply:I have both and to be honest I wouldn't bother. The only thing different about Gmail is the IM but if your friends don't have Gmail and you already have an IM client there's no point.





Plus, who knows what info google will be keeping on you; not making a good name for themselves recently where data is concerned.





Although it does have other options such as customising your google page but none of it's vital; at first I thought it was great but I didn't use most of the features. Being able to store your documents online is good but to be honest your better off with memory stick.
Reply:Gmail will give you access to files and other stuff like picasa in one login. hotmail sucks. only thing is to import the contacts... that wont be easy. also if you have circulated you email id then you need to send update to everybody about your changed address.
