How can I get good gmail notifier? with sound elarm ? without being visible ?

I usually use Gmail talk version 10 beta, to be notified when I receive new mail, but fortunately this make me appear always as online ... is there another good notifier ?

I don't know another one, you can just sign in as busy if you don't want to be bothered.
