What happens if you invite 50 friends to gmail?

it says i have 50 invites left... if i invited that many people, would they actually stop me from inviting more?

If your account shows that you've only 50 more invites left, chances are you won't get any more invites. But then, invites were useful only about 3-4 years ago (maybe even 5 years ago) when gmail was only an invite based email address. Which meant a person couldn't create a new email on gmail.com unless they were sent an invite by another gmail user. I remember I got only 5 invites with my gmail id. Anyways, as of today anybody can create a new gmail id WITHOUT an invite, so you could just send a link to the Sign up page ( http://mail.google.com/mail/signup )to your friends instead of sending them an invite.
