Why does gmail make attached photos so huge?

When I open a standardish photo, it's like 3 pages wide, really annoying. How do I change the specs, or what size should I send? I have photoshop, so could shrink 'em first, if needed. Thanks!

Well, I tends to happen beacuse the picture was problably saved a normasl size. I reccomend saving the image verry small, so it shows up large. You can make an image smaller be right clicking it with your mouse, than clickon on resize image.
