How do I turn off the option where other gmailers can see I'm on gmail and chat with me?
You have 2 choices:


1. Log out of chat completely so that no one will bother you.


You can do this by clicking on the small arrow in the chat region and say "logout".





2. Gmail has an "invisible" option in the chat bar. Choose that and you can remain online on chat, but your contacts will see you as offline and not bother you.





I like option 2 better.
